Why Sulfate Free?

For years companies have been using sulfates as the surfactant (the "cleaning agent") ingredient in their products due to its ability to create a nice lather and a lot of bubbles. So why the need for a sulfate free formulation? Sulfates can be harsh to a subtle degree for people with sensitive skin. Although sulfates are used safely and effectively in an abundance of products that we all use everyday, recent media attention encourages consumers to seek formulations with alternative ingredients. In today's world of many choices we as manufacturers and suppliers are obligated to satisfy the demands of consumers. PureEssence™ multi-use base is formulated using an alternative surfactant matrix, resulting in a base that is Eco-Friendly, sulfate-free and gentle without sacrificing any benefits.

Formulated in our in-house laboratory, our formulators and chemists have listened to market trends and combined their years of experience to produced a base that is innovative,without compromise and is environmentally responsible.

PureEssence™ Sulfate-free plant based surfactant Matrix is the heart of this product. It delivers a cleansing blend that is not only free of SLS and SLES but free of all Sulfates, not to mention it is biodegradable.

How Can it Get any Better?

In the Essentials By Catalina tradition of making a good thing better, we have added a not just a few but a blend of eight Organic Plant Extracts which offer a myriad of hair and skin benefits.

Mixing and Customizing

PLEASE READ: It is essentials that we understand the limitations of and scope of bases that are formulated using alternative and naturally derived surfactants and preservatives. The bottom line is that this type of base is not as forgiving to over scenting and modifications. One must adhere to recommendations when it comes to scenting, coloring and other additions to the base. Use the base with the understanding that not all fragrances will perform the same in the base or produce the same result. It is recommended that all modifications be tested in small batches for clarity , viscosity and final product application prior to committing a large batch to modifications. Keeping lab notes is good practice and it allows you to duplicate your creations. You will find that in no time you will learn it's capabilities and start enjoying it's benefits.

• This versatile formula can be used as a shampoo, shower gel, face wash, hand soap or bubble bath.
  
• It is clear and and unscented in it's raw form and ready for your customization and creativity.
  
• The base may also be used as-is unscented and uncolored for those sensitive to fragrance as it is hypoallergenic in it's unmodified form.
  
• Can be diluted with distilled water for hand soap, face formulas and foamer applications.
  
• Can accommodate water soluble cosmetics ingredients and additional botanical extracts.
  
• Up to 0.50% Fragrance oil may be added to this formula. Depending non fragrance oil used slightly higher percentages may be used.
  
• Liquid colorants are best for this base.
